Phaeton, designed by Hakan Gürsu, is an electric vehicle that aims to respond to the need for intercity low-speed cars. It fits into the concept of slowed cities, serving as an intermediate layer between automobiles and non-motorized vehicles. This lightweight, low-cost, and safe eco-car is designed to thrive in urban environments, particularly in low-speed areas such as inner-city alleys, historical or touristic areas, and university campuses.
The visual design language of Phaeton combines traditional elements with modern forms, taking inspiration from phaeton carriages. This fusion of past and present creates a unique aesthetic that can easily turn Phaeton into a city icon. But it's not just about looks - this eco-car is designed to be practical and versatile.
Phaeton is developed for usage in slowed cities and areas that are cleared of vehicles. Its flexible design adapts to changing weather conditions, easing transportation and circulation. The vehicle can comfortably carry two passengers, who are seated backwards to enjoy an optimum vista and a convenient mounting and riding experience. Luggage loading is also made easier, thanks to the collapsible hood and transparent roof that provide a panoramic view for tourist passengers.
Produced from glass reinforced plastics in stiff parts and polycarbonate in transparent parts, Phaeton is a durable yet lightweight design that fits multipurpose uses. The aluminum alloy chassis frame ensures safety, while the design is optimized for the lowest production, running, and maintenance costs. Despite its affordability, Phaeton doesn't compromise on comfort, safety, and efficiency.
Phaeton has been recognized for its outstanding design and innovation. In 2012, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Vehicle, Mobility, and Transportation Design category. This prestigious accolade is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that showcase outstanding expertise and innovation. Phaeton's strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill make it a true testament to excellence, evoking positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
